XXX Big Apple
In the Toronto Sun on Friday Sept. 26th, 2008 was an opinion column by Mike Strobel about the Big Apple in Colborne. The focus of the piece was not on the apple itself, or the petting zoo, nor the baked goods available for purchase. No, this was about the items being sold in the gift shop. It seems that someone within the organization decided it would be a good idea to sell X rated t-shirts. The shirts are selling extremely well and an employee indicates that the sales are outnumbering complaints. While this may seem like an excellent business decision now, I think that long term this may hurt the business. The type of people who are bringing their children or parents to this location, likely are more interested in letting their children pet the nearby animals. I’m not sure that selling these t-shirts is a sustainable venture if it alienates or offends the majority of their target audience.

Plays well with others
Loyalist PR seems to be the class that plays together. So far our class is coming together well and we seem to be finding our own voices. Hopefully we will continue to find support and encouragement from our peers and develop a portfolio to be proud of.

I'm old and I don't care
So tired! What a week! Work and school seem to be neverending and it is feeling like there is little time leftover for myself and my spouse. School is turning out better than I thought it would be and I am really happy about that. I am actually happy that I am going to school at this age instead of when I was in my twenties. I may joke about being old and out of touch but I am really quite comfortable being the age that I am. I enjoy my thirties and the respect that I automatically get because I am no longer so dumb kid. I truly am out of touch with young kids and what is cool but I am so OK with that because I don't have time for short lived trends or ridiculous fashions. Thank goodness I don't have to buy into that garbage anymore. Now if I can just figure out this blogging thing!

My First Blog
So...my first blog...where to begin? Well, I've just begun my first year of school in almost 8 years and it isn't quite what I expected it to be. Overall I would say it has been a positive experience, and I am sure there will be plenty to blog about as I go. Here's to new experiences!
